Pastel on  Sennelier La Carte  8" X 10"

My previous still-life got me thinking in terms of tools. I went down to our workshop in the basement looking for some interesting tools to paint. These are certainly my favorite, and I will be using them this weekend to paint my daughter's room! So, I guess,  I will have to take a break from painting still-lifes to paint the walls!! :)

Painting with oils

Oils were my favorite medium when I painted in childhood. Later, for many years I didn't find much time for painting. It's only for few years now that I have managed to paint regularly. These days I work mostly with pastels, and keep thinking that some day I will get back to my oils. Today's still-life is to that thought ..

As I continue with my studies on transparencies, what could be better than some bright and glossy nail polish! Of course,  when it comes to make-up, my favorite lipstick also had to find a place in it.  

Glass of wine

After painting juice and milk, it was time for some wine! Somehow getting the drawing of the glass right took me more time than I thought. I could do with a glass of wine afterwards.

Isha's breakfast!

This is my daughter Isha's daily breakfast. Everyday she has an egg and a glass of milk before going to school. Day in and day out she is happy to have the same thing. For me though, it turned out to be an interesting subject for a still-life.

Onions

I had painted these onions about a week back.  I wanted to make a couple of changes before uploading on my blog. But once I move on to another painting, it takes me forever to get back to it. Finally decided to finish it today. The twin onions sprouting totally stole my heart!  It's still laying pretty on my desk,  tempting me to paint it again. :)

Orange Adventure

In my previous painting I felt that I should have chosen a different color for the background. The color of the oil was the same as that of the background. Whenever I have such a feeling, I push myself to the other extreme. This time I chose the background color to be the complement of the subject. I feel much happier. :)

Oil and Pepper

For a long time I have been thinking of painting this olive-oil dispenser bottle. It finally got it's turn. I had a hard time in the kitchen without it though, didn't realize how indispensable this dispenser is!!

Leaning on an egg

After spending a couple of days contemplating what to paint, ended up with this shallot. Somehow the egg came as an obvious choice to pair. I must be thinking omelette! Afterwards I made a trip to the local farmer's market and picked up some interesting fruits and veggies to paint. That's coming up next!

Cherry by the bowl

Cherries are one of my favorite fruits. They were not as much fun painting though. I plan to work on  a new series, but still haven't found anything that excites me as much as the sprouting onions. So I will continue to explore!

I made a large still-life with onions to close the series I have been working on. I will be uploading that on the blog soon. It's now time for a change, and an apple always comes in handy!
