I visited the beautiful and serene Lodhi gardens a couple of times during my stay in India last summer. The garden has many tombs used as burial for the 16th century Lodhi rulers. This is a drawing of a battlement enclosing one of the tombs, taken from a photograph during my visit.
This is a small study of Lilies that I did this morning. These flowers had bloomed and blossomed, and were wilting by the minute. I love working with pastels for quick studies as it allows spontaneity.
Just finished this painting of a stupa ( Buddhist house of worship) in Tibet. I like the colorful flags flying high against the clear blue sky, complementing the barren white walls of the structure, weathered by the elements. The play of light is also very interesting.
It’s from a photograph taken by my friend Devajyoti Sarkar. I often paint from his photos, and I am grateful to him for letting me use them.
I saw this beautiful onion sprouting in my kitchen and I had to paint it. I like pairing my onions with eggplants as they complement each other very well. I needed something more, and these sprouted garlic pods were perfect to complete my composition.
